Sharing some advice from the leading Doctor at The Child Mind Institute
Living the Hollywood life isn’t all fun and games, even though the the media paints such a pretty picture. Dangers lurk everywhere. Especially if you are a Mom. Nurturing children in a place where beauty is the standard and attained at all costs can be very diabolical. Beauty is not very nurturing, is it?
Remember coming home after school to cookies and milk and a sweet warm Mommy? I do…but I am not sure that my daughter can say the same. Nor can most little girls anymore. Why? The reason is simple…how can we hug our little ones and treat them with sweets when all we do is runaround in our skinny clothes starving to death while scaring our children off carbs?
Being super thin and a fashionista is no longer a woman’s obsession but has also become a little girl’s obsession. And the sad truth is that it is happening all over our country…from New York to Los Angeles and in every city between. The pages of all the celebrity and fashion magazines have very long and powerful arms and reach into our sub consciousness as well as our children’s. They leave us with the message that we are not good enough…not rich enough…not THIN enough. And there in lies the danger. We all try to be like the women, kids, moms, people in the magazines…and fall short. Why?? Because the people in the magazines are not real…they are styled and photoshopped into perfection.
That perfect family with the perfect mom has a crew of at least 20 creating this illusion of beauty…Not even movie stars really look like movie stars in real life!
